"Bubble Art" Collage

First of all, let me just say that this project is probably best suited for ages 4 and up. And make sure you use non-toxic paint!
You will need:
  • Non-toxic Paint
  • Straws
  • Dish Soap (not pictured)
  • White construction paper, ripped into pieces
  • 1 large piece construction paper for placing collage
  • Glue
Mix some water, the paint, and some dish soap in a container bigger than the ripped pieces of paper. Blow into the paint mixture with a straw, being careful not to accidentally drink it!

The bubbles should be smaller to get the best effect. This is a good example.

Gently lay the paper on top of the bubbles, and carefully remove it. My little one didn't quite get the "gently" part...she said she was dying "Easter paper". =)

You can sort of see the "bubble" effect. Most of ours did not come out like this, since, as I said, my daughter thought dunking the paper was much more fun than gently laying it on.

Repeat with all the white construction paper, and lay somewhere to let dry a little. I put the pieces on a cookie sheet. Then my daughter glued all the pieces together to make a collage.

Here is the finished product. Even though this wasn't as "bubbly" as I was going for, my little one had fun (kept her attention for an entire half hour!) and learned about collage. It turned out really pretty!

  1. This is lovely. We recently made bubble prints in our classroom, and I love the extension of turning the prints into a collage. Beautiful!

  2. Thank you! I think her favorite part was ripping the paper =)
