You will need:
- Flour
- Water
- Food Coloring or Tempera Paint
Add 4 C water and a pinch of salt. Stir.
Whisk well over low heat until thickened. About 5 minutes.
Divide into cups.
You can use food coloring, add a little at a time until you get the right color.
But, to ensure this was washable for the sake of my couch, my little one's clothing, and my walls, I used a little dab of washable paint instead of the food coloring.
The paint has a fun texture, and I think my little one had more fun dumping her hands in it than anything. Make sure you use heavy construction paper, since this goes on thin, but dries thick.
Add glitter to the paint if you're feeling particularly dumb brave.
I added the leftover paint to a Ziploc Bag, closed the top, and let my little one squeeze it around.
There were some globs of flour that didn't dissolve, but I still think we'd do this again. The texture was fun for my little one, and she was proud that she helped make the paint.
Great minds think alike...I just made some homemade finger paint yesterday that I'm planning on posting on Monday! My recipe has salt in it too, though. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteJenae, I can't wait to see your recipe...I'll be keeping an eye out for it! Thanks!
